70 new cases push Odisha's Covid-19 tally to 3,37,744

Odisha's Covid-19 tally mounted to 3,37,744 on Sunday as 70 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.

Forty-one new cases were reported in quarantine centres, while 29 fresh infections were detected during contact tracing, he said.

Khurda district reported the highest number of new cases at 14, followed by Sundergarh (12) and Angul (11).

The state's coronavirus death toll remained unchanged at 1,917 as no fresh fatality was reported.

Samajwadi Party will hold a rally in support of its leader and Lok Sabha MP Azam Khan and his family over cases registered against them by the Uttar Pradesh Police. The rally will begin from Rampur, Lok Sabha constituency of Azam Khan on March 12 and will conclude in Lucknow on March 21. Over 80 cases have been registered against Khan, many of which are about land encroachment by Mohammad Ali Jauhar University. DMK gives 25 Assembly seats, Kanyakumari LS seat to Congress

After tough negotiations that stretched for days, the DMK on Sunday allotted 25 assembly seats and the Kanyakumari Lok Sabha constituency to its key ally, the Congress. A formal pact for the April 6 Assembly election was signed by DMK president M K Stalin and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee chief K S Alagiri at the Dravidian party's headquartes 'Anna Arivalayam' here. After days of deliberations, a point of conclusion was reached late Saturday night and Congress leader and Tamil Nadu in charge Dinesh Gundu Rao told reporters that the agreement was signed in "a spirit of cooperation" when the country was facing a 'threat' from the BJP.
