Airtel launches 'unlimited' broadband plans starting at Rs 499, bundles OTT apps, STB
Telecom operator Bharti Airtel on Sunday launched 'unlimited' category broadband plans starting at Rs 499 per month which will come bundled with subscription to video entertainment apps and high definition set-top box (STB) against refundable deposit. Airtel has enhanced high speed data usage limit (fair usage policy) by up to 23 times in the revised plans to 3,500 gigabytes, according to a PTI report.
The move from Airtel comes within a week of its competitor Reliance Jio revising broadband plans with unlimited data usage and bundling subscription fee of video entertainment apps in them.
The new and revised plans will be rolled out September 7 onwards across 125 cities where the company has operations, and in new cities where it will gradually expand its footprint, Airtel said in a statement.

Customs to roll out pan-India faceless assessment for all imports by Oct 31
The Customs Department will roll out pan-India faceless assessment for all imported goods by October 31, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has said, according to a PTI report.
While faceless assessment for import of certain goods was already rolled out in Bengaluru and Chennai ports on June 8, it was extended to Delhi and Mumbai Customs on August 3. This will now be extended in phases to all ports across the country by December 31.
"Board has decided to roll out the Faceless Assessment at an all India level in all ports of import and for all imported goods by October 31, 2020," the CBIC said in a circular.

Bengaluru Metro cards to be used once within seven days to avoid lapse
Bengaluru Metro rail has made it compulsory for passengers to use their recharged smart cards loaded with money at least one in the initial seven days or the amount will relapse, an official said on Sunday.
"At least once it has to be used in seven days, otherwise the money will lapse. That is because of the technical requirement," a Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) official told IANS.
However, after meeting the requirement of using at least once in the first seven days, the recharged money will be saved for a period of 10 years to be used anytime.

Amul to invest Rs 1,500 crore in 2 years to set up dairy, various other plants
GCMMF, which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, will invest around Rs 1,000 crore over the next two years to set up milk processing plants, and another Rs 500 crore on facilities for new products like edible oil, its MD R S Sodhi said.
In an interview with PTI, Sodhi said the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF) expects 12-15 per cent growth in revenue in current fiscal year from Rs 38,550 crore during the last fiscal year despite COVID-19 pandemic, as demand for branded food products has increased.
"We will invest around Rs 1,000 crore in the next two years on setting up dairy plants across various states," Sodhi told PTI. He said the processing capacity would increase to 420 lakh litres per day from the current 380 lakh litres per day. READ MORE...

HDFC disburses 'credit-linked subsidy scheme' loans to over 200,000 home buyers
HDFC Ltd. has disbursed home loans to over 200,000 home buyers under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana's (PMAY) credit linked subsidy scheme (CLSS). In a regulatory filing on Sunday, the lender said that it approved over Rs 47,000 crore of home loans under CLSS to homebuyers belonging to the economically weaker section (EWS), low income group (LIG) and middle income groups (MIG), according to an IANS report.
"Subsidy under PMAY amounting to over Rs 4,700 crore has been passed on to these 2,00,000 homebuyers, becoming the only financial institution in the country to achieve this feat," it said.
HDFC added that it has been partnering and supporting the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs and the National Housing Bank to work towards the government's goal of 'Affordable Housing for All'.

Rajnath Singh meets Iranian counterpart, discusses regional security
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said he had a "very fruitful" discussion with his Iranian counterpart Brigadier General Amir Hatami and discussed regional security situation including Afghanistan and issues of bilateral cooperation.
"Had a very fruitful meeting with Iranian defence minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami in Tehran. We discussed regional security issues including Afghanistan and the issues of bilateral cooperation," Rajnath Singh said in a tweet. "The meeting between the two Ministers took place in a cordial and warm atmosphere. Both the leaders emphasized upon the age-old cultural, linguistic and civilizational ties between India and Iran," the Defence Minister's office said in a tweet.

After JEE Main, National Testing Agency gears up for medical entrance NEET
After JEE Main, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is now gearing up for conducting medical entrance exam NEET scheduled to be held on September 13 for which over 15 lakh candidates have registered. The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main), which began on September 1 for admission to engineering colleges, will conclude on Sunday, news agency PTI reported.
The crucial exams are being conducted in September after being postponed twice in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to NTA officials, 15.97 lakh candidates from across the country have registered for NEET, which is a pen-paper based test unlike JEE.
In order to maintain social distancing, the NTA has increased the number of centres from 2,546 to 3,843 for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) while the number of candidates per room has been reduced from earlier 24 to 12.
