Sushant Singh Rajput death case: Actor Rhea Chakraborty leaves for NCB office

Actor Rhea Chakraborty on Sunday was summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for the first time in the case, two days after her brother Showik was arrested by the agency which is investigating a drugs angle into the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput. Previously Rhea and Showik have been questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Deputy Director, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Amit Fakkad Ghawate told reporters here "She (Rhea Chakraborty) will come to the office. There will be cross-questioning and nothing else. The outcome will be communicated to you." Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer Satish Maneshinde said that she is ready for arrest as it is a witch-hunt.

Diesel prices steady across metros on Sunday

Diesel prices remained unchanged across the four metros on Sunday with the fuel being priced at Rs 73.27 per litre in the national capital. In Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata too, diesel prices were the same as on Saturday, at Rs 79.81, Rs 78.58 and Rs 76.77 a litre, respectively. On Saturday, its price fell 13 paise in all the four major cities. While diesel prices have somewhat declined in the past one week, OMCs have kept the petrol prices steady.

Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL), which has embarked on a 10-year strategy to position itself as a leading global shipyard, is eying opportunities in inland, coastal, fishing and special vessels segments besides aspiring to spin off a dedicated vertical for fishing vessels, according to its CMD Madhu S Nair. The state-owned company is constructing a yard at its 100 per cent subsidiary Hooghly Cochin Shipyard in Kolkata as a dedicated facility for construction of such vessels and has already delivered eight vessels to the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) during Covid-19.

'Saturday Night Live' to honour Chadwick Boseman with rerun of episode he hosted

TV broadcast company NBC is planning to honour the late 'Black Panther' actor Chadwick Boseman with a re-run of an episode of 'Saturday Night Live', which he hosted in April 2018. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the episode will air at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on September 5 (local time). During the show, Boseman reprised his role as T'Challa from the superhero movie, this time appearing in a 'Black Jeopardy' sketch. In a 'Black Panther'-themed sketch, Boseman explained the 'Wakanda Forever' salute from the movie. Boseman died on August 28 at the age of 43, after a four year battle with colon cancer, survived by his wife Taylor Simone Ledward.

Sushant death case: NCB summons Rhea Chakraborty

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has issued summons to actor Rhea Chakraborty, asking her to join the investigation today, in connection with the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput death case on Sunday. Joint Director of NCB, Sameer Wankhede said, "Summons have been served to Rhea. She was at her home." "She will be coming to the NCB office on her own," Wankhede said. NCB issued summons to Rhea asking her to join the investigation today. An NCB team and police reached the residence of actor Rhea Chakraborty in Mumbai to serve the summons this morning. Earlier, the NCB arrested Dipesh Sawant, the domestic help of the late actor, actor Rhea Chakraborty's brother Showik and her associate Samuel Miranda for their role in the procurement and handling of drugs.

Two cops injured, 12 people arrested during anti-government protests in Jerusalem

Two cops were injured while 12 people were arrested as thousands took part in an anti-government demonstration in Jerusalem. "Police in Jerusalem is responding to an unauthorised protest. Protesters have broken the police cordon. Two officers have sustained injuries," Israeli Police said in a release, according to Sputnik. According to Times of Israel report, the demonstrations, which have also focused on the government's failure to handle the coronavirus crisis, have become a weekly flashpoint between protesters and police since they began to gain steam in June.

Seeking unity, North Korea's Kim vows to overcome typhoon damage

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has visited typhoon-stricken areas in the northeast, fired a top official there and promised to send 12,000 workers from Pyongyang for recovery efforts, state media reported Sunday. It's the latest in a series of high-profile visits by Kim and his deputies to areas hit by natural disasters in recent weeks. Some experts say Kim likely attempted to project an image of a leader looking after people's livelihoods as he seeks to bolster internal unity in the face of the coronavirus pandemic and U.S.-led sanctions.  The Korean Central News Agency said that Kim on Saturday visited South Hamgyong province, which was hit by Typhoon Maysak last week. It said Kim was briefed that the typhoon destroyed more than 1,000 houses and inundated public buildings and farmland in the coastal areas of South Hamgyong as well as nearby North Hamgyong province.

Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah reopens for public

Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah re-opened on Sunday with several COVID-19 precautionary measures. The shrine was closed since mid-March after the pandemic hit the country. It was sanitised ahead of its re-opening. Notably, at 5 am today, the first namaz was offered by the devotees, who were seen standing in queues while abiding by social distancing norms and wearing face masks. Bottles of sanitisers were also kept at every corner of the shrine for the people to maintain hand hygiene. Floor markings were also done for the convenience of the public in maintaining social distancing.
