Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the Group of 20 summit in Indonesia next week, avoiding a possible confrontation with the United States and its allies over his war in Ukraine, an Indonesian government official said Thursday.
US President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping and other world leaders are to attend the two-day summit in Bali that starts on November 15.

India reports 1,016 new Covid-19 cases; active tally in country dips to 13,187
India logged 1,016 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,46,63,968, while the active cases dipped to 13,187, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.
The death toll climbed to 5,30,514 with three new fatalities -- two in Maharashtra and one in Rajasthan --being reported in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am stated.

Delhi excise policy scam: ED arrests Aurobindo Pharma Director Sarath Reddy
The ED has arrested two company executives linked to liquor trade in the money laundering investigation being conducted by it into the now scrapped Delhi Excise policy case, official sources said Thursday.
Benoy Babu of Pernod Ricard and Sharath Reddy of Aurobindo Pharma have been arrested under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), they said.

Samajwadi Party to submit proof of deletion of voters' names to EC today
A Samajwadi Party (SP) delegation will visit the Election Commission on Thursday to submit a written reply to the notice issued on the allegations that names of the Yadav and Muslims voters were struck off in bulk from the electoral rolls ahead of the Assembly polls earlier this year at the instance of the BJP.
The delegation will carry specific instances of the missing names and also hand over the voters' lists of booths where the names were struck off at the last moment, said senior party leaders.

Delhi excise scam: Two businessmen arrested by ED
In a fresh development in connection with Delhi excise policy scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday arrested two more persons.
According to sources, two businessmen from South India -- Sharath Reddy K. and Binoy Babu -- were placed under arrest. Both will be produced before Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court later in the day. The ED is all set to seek their custodial remand.

Uttar Pradesh govt to host Khelo India games in 2023-24
The Uttar Pradesh government will be hosting the Khelo India National University Games in 2023-24 in four cities of the state. These cities are Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Noida.
According to Navneet Sehgal, additional chief secretary, sports, around 4,500 athletes, representing 150 universities across the country will be vying for top honours in 20 disciplines, including rowing, basketball, judo, kabaddi, wrestling, swimming, boxing, etc.

Jailed conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar has written a series of letters to Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena complaining against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Minister Satyendar Jain.
The latest letter, released by Sukesh's lawyer AK Singh dated November 9, claimed that he has received "constant threats" and pressure to withdraw complaints filed before the LG office against Aam Aadmi Party, Satyendar Jain, Arvind Kejriwal and Kailash Gahlot.
