PM Modi hails Mithali Raj's achievement, says she is inspiration to both men, women cricketers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Indian women's team's ODI skipper Mithali Raj, who recently became the first Indian woman to complete 10,000 runs across formats, saying that her success story is an inspiration to not only women but also men cricketers.

 

"Indian cricket team's Mithali Raj recently became the first Indian women cricketer to complete 10,000 runs in international cricket. Many congratulations to her on this achievement. She is also the only women international player to score 7,000 runs in ODI. Her contribution to women's cricket is brilliant," PM Modi said during the 75th episode of his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat'.

 

"She has inspired many through her two-decade-long career. Her story of hard work and success is an inspiration to not only women but also men's cricketers," he added.

Rajnath Singh promises to bring law to protect tradition, practices at Sabarimala

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday promised that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will make legislation for the protection of traditions and practices of the Sabarimala temple. While addressing a press conference in Kerala, the BJP leader said: "If we form the government here, we will make legislation for the protection of traditions and practices of Sabarimala. This is our well-considered decision."

 

"We are trying to get a majority in Kerala. Whatever will happen in the future we will see," Singh further added.

 

The BJP in their manifesto for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections has promised new legislation for Sabrimala. The election for 140-member Kerala Assembly in 14 districts will be held in a single phase on April 6. The counting of votes will be held on May 2.
