13 killed, 2 inured as utility vehicle falls into gorge in Uttarakhand's Chakrata
A utility vehicle carrying 15 passengers fell into a deep gorge in Uttarakhand's Chakrata town on Sunday, killing 13 people on the spot and leaving two injured, police said.
The utility vehicle met with the accident near Bayala village on way to Vikasnagar from Tyuni, they said.
The driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into a deep gorge, killing 13 people on the spot.
A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team retrieved the bodies, the police said, adding that the two injured persons were admitted to a nearby hospital.

IPL 2022: Lucknow, Ahmedabad have Rs 33-crore budget to pick 3 players from pool at start of auction
The two new Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises -- Lucknow and Ahmedabad -- have been allotted a budget of Rs 33 crore to pick three players who go back into the pool before the mega auction begins.
In the mail sent by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to all the franchises, which has been accessed by ANI, the rules have been formally conveyed and the salary purse for all the teams has been set at Rs 90 crore.
The amount is an increase from the IPL 2021 auction as then the purse was of Rs 85 crore.

MP bypolls: 65.32% turnout in 3 Assembly seats, 63.88% in Khandwa LS seat
A voter turnout of 65.32 per cent was recorded in the bypolls to three Assembly seats and 63.88 per cent in the Khandwa Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh, officials said on Sunday.
In the by-elections held on Saturday, Jobat (reserved for Scheduled Tribes candidates), Prithvipur and Raigaon (reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates) Assembly constituencies recorded 53.30 per cent, 78.14 per cent and 69.01 per cent polling, respectively, they said quoting late night figures of the Election Commission.
During the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls in 2018, Jobat, Prithvipur and Raigaon had registered a turnout of 52.84 per cent, 79.61 per cent and 74.53 per cent, respectively, they said.

Several Delhi schools to reopen for all classes from Monday, some to open after Diwali
Several schools in the national capital are set to reopen for all classes from Monday after remaining closed for 19 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while many have chosen defer the reopening to post-festive week.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) had last week announced that schools would reopen for all classes from November 1, even though teaching and learning would continue in blended mode.
The DDMA had also said that schools would have to ensure that there is not more than 50 per cent attendance in a class at one point of time and no student is forced to attend physical classes.
Low Covid vaccination coverage: PM to hold review meeting with DMs of over 40 districts
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a review meeting on November 3 with district magistrates of over 40 districts having low Covid-19 vaccination coverage, the PMO said on Sunday.
The meeting will include districts with less than 50 per cent coverage of the first dose and low coverage of the second dose of the vaccine, it said.
The 40 districts are spread across Jharkhand, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra and Meghalaya among other states, and chief ministers of these states will also attend the meeting.

Khurda reports more than half of Odisha's new Covid cases
More than half of the new coronavirus cases in Odisha on Sunday were reported from the Khurda district where state capital Bhubaneswar is situated, the Health Department said.
Seven districts reported no new infections, while Kandhamal and Nabarangpur have one and two active cases, respectively, according to official data.
The toll rose to 8,333 with four more deaths -- two in Khurda, and one each in Mayurbhanj and Puri. Fifty-three other coronavirus patients have died due to comorbidities so far, it said.
