CBSE cancels class 10 board exams, postpones class 12 exams
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday cancelled class 10 exams and postponed class 12 exams in view of surge in COVID-19 cases. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The exams were scheduled to be held from May 4.
The board exams for class 10 are cancelled. The result will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion developed by the board, a Ministry of Education (MoE) official said. Any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks will be given an opportunity to sit for exams when the situation is conducive.
The class 12 exams have been postponed and a review of the situation will be done after June 1. Students will be given at least a 15-day notice before the exams are conducted, the official added.

Priyanka Gandhi urges Centre to cancel CBSE Board exams
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday urged the central government to cancel the CBSE board exams as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the country.
The Congress leader in a Facebook post said that students across the country were raising some important concerns related to the examinations in the second wave of COVID-19. She requested the Government of India not to ignore the voice of India's future and cancel CBSE board exams.
"For the past several days, I listened to many students of the CBSE board. Students across the country are raising some important concerns related to the examinations in the second wave of Covid. They say that in the last days of the examinations, the pressure of preparation is already there on them and now there is the additional pressure of safety on them," she said.

Madhya Pradesh postpones Class 10, Class 12 board exams
The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has postponed the examinations of Classes 10 and 12 in view of a spike in COVID-19 cases, an official said on Wednesday.
The exams of the high school, higher secondary and diploma in pre-school education (vocational course) were scheduled to begin from April 30 and May 1.
