Lashing out against the rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the fourth phase of the West Bengal elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she is a 'Bengal tigress', who will not bend in front of BJP's attacks.
 
Speaking at a public gathering in Cooch Behar, Banerjee said: "They (BJP) will bring goons from Assam. They will explode bombs and threaten people. Do not be afraid. They do not want our mothers and sisters to vote. Central forces are blocking ur mothers and sisters from voting." She claimed that if the BJP comes to power in the state, they will build detention camps like in Assam. "They have kept 14 lakh Bengalis in detention camps, who have no future. We are fighting for those poor people. They were not even voting, police made raids on them."
 
"BJP cannot do anything to me with their money. I am a Bengal tigress, I break but I do not bend," she further remarked.

LIVE: President promulgates Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code Ordinance, 2021

The President of India promulgated the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021 on 4th April 2021. The Cabinet had approved on 31st March 2021 the proposal to make amendments in the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (Code), through the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021. 
 
The amendments aims to provide an efficient alternative insolvency resolution framework for corporate persons classified as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under the Code, for ensuring quicker, cost-effective and value maximising outcomes for all the stakeholders, in a manner which is least disruptive to the continuity of MSMEs businesses and which preserves jobs. The initiative is based on a trust model and the amendments honour the honest MSME owners by trying to ensure that the resolution happens and the company remains with them.

BJP to win 63-68 seats in first three phases in West Bengal: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that the BJP is confident of winning 63 to 68 seats in the first three phases of elections held in West Bengal so far. Polling has been completed in 91 of the 294 assembly seats in the state, which will see five more phases of elections.
 
"The Bharatiya Janata Party estimates that it will surely win 63 to 68 seats in the first three phases of elections and gain a huge lead over the Trinamool Congress, Communists and the Congress," Shah said.
 
The saffron party will also gain leads in the rest of the phases and cross the target of winning 200 seats, he told reporters after having lunch at a local BJP supporter's modest home here in Howrah district.

Cabinet clears Rs 4,500 crore PLI scheme to boost solar PV modules manufacturing

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a production linked incentive (PLI) scheme with an outlay of Rs 4,500 crore to add 10,000 MW capacity of integrated solar PV modules manufacturing plants.
 
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal gave details of the PLI scheme 'National Programme on High Efficiency Solar PV Modules' with an outlay of Rs 4,500 crore.
 
The government said that this decision will add 10,000 MW capacity of integrated solar PV manufacturing plants and bring direct investment of around Rs 17,200 crore in solar PV manufacturing. The PLI scheme is likely to create direct employment of around 30,000 and indirect employment of 1.2 lakh, according to the government.

Taking another important step towards the vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', the Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, approved the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods (Air Conditioners and LED Lights) with a budgetary outlay of Rs. 6,238 crore, said the press release.
 
The prime objective of the PLI scheme is to make manufacturing in India globally competitive by removing sectoral disabilities, creating economies of scale and ensuring efficiencies. It is designed to create complete component ecosystem in India and make India an integral part of the global supply chains. The scheme is expected to attract global investments, generate large scale employment opportunities and enhance exports substantially.

It is estimated that over the period of five years, the PLI Scheme will lead to incremental investment of Rs. 7,920 Crore, incremental Production worth Rs. 1,68,000 Crore, exports worth Rs 64,400 Crore, earn direct and indirect revenues of Rs 49,300 crore and create additional four lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Govt approves PLI scheme for air-conditioners, LED lights

The government on Wednesday approved a production-linked incentive scheme for air-conditioner and LED light sectors with an outlay of Rs 6,238 crore. The proposal was approved in a Union Cabinet meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
 
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that the approval of the scheme for ACs and LEDs will give a boost to domestic manufacturing. Production-linked incentive scheme aims at boosting domestic manufacturing in the country.
