The President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday promulgated the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021. The Cabinet had approved on 31st March 2021 the proposal to make amendments in the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (Code), through the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021.
Meanwhile, the government today approved a production-linked incentive scheme for air-conditioner and LED light sectors with an outlay of Rs 6,238 crore. The proposal was approved in a Union Cabinet meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Union Cabinet also gave nod to the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme with an outlay of Rs 4,500 crore to add 10,000 MW capacity of integrated solar PV modules manufacturing plants.
In another news, a Mumbai court today extended the NIA custody ofsuspended Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze till April 9 in the case of an explosives-laden SUV found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence and the death of businessman Mansukh Hiran.

West Bengal registered 84.61% polling in third phase
West Bengal registered 84.61 per cent polling during the third phase of polling on April 6 held in 31 assembly constituencies spread across its three districts, state chief electoral officer Ariz Aftab said on Friday.
The highest turnout of 85.51 per cent was registered in South 24 Parganas district, while it was 83.75 per cent in Hooghly and 83.55 per cent in Howrah, he said. Goghat constituency in Hooghly district recorded the highest vote turnout of 88.67 per cent, the CEO said.

West Bengal BJP chief BJP says TMC workers attacked his car in North Bengal
The BJP's West Bengal president Dilip Ghosh on Wednesday alleged that Trinamool Congress workers attacked his car with bombs and bricks in Cooch Behar district of North Bengal, a charge denied by the ruling party. Ghosh said that the car's window glasses including the one on his side were smashed in the attack which took place at Sitalkuchi after a public meeting of his party.
After breaking the glass, a brick also hit him, he said. "If this is the situation, how can one expect free and fair polls in Cooch Behar, where people had voted for change in the 2019 Lok Sabha election," Ghosh said in a video message.

Amit Shah promises rapid industrialisation, predicts massive win for BJP in Bengal
Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a series of colourful road shows in three districts of south Bengal on Wednesday, promising rapid industrialisation if BJP is voted to power and predicted a massive victory for his party.
Shah claimed the BJP will win between 63 to 68 seats out of 91 constituencies for which elections have been held in the first three phases of the eight-phase West Bengal assembly elections.
Asserting that Mamata Banerjee's departure is assured, he said at Mallick Fatak in Howrah, "She is such a big leader, so her departure should also be with a big margin." The home minister also promised to wipe out hooliganism and political violence if his party came to power. The first of the road shows of the day was at Singur, once the hotspot of the anti-land acquisition movement.
