Tourists flock to Japan after COVID restrictions lifted

Eager to admire colourful foliage, eat sushi and go shopping, droves of tourists from abroad started arriving on Tuesday in Japan for the first day of lifted border restrictions, which had been in place for more than two years to curb the coronavirus pandemic.

Travellers are expected to deliver a sorely needed 5 trillion yen (USD 35 billion) boost to the world's third-largest economy. And the flood of visitors is expected to keep growing.

The daily cap of 50,000 arrivals is gone. Airlines have added flights to respond to the full re-opening of borders. Visa-free travel is back for short-term business and tourism from more than 60 nations.

Inauguration of 'Mahakal Lok' in Ujjain today to be live-streamed in 40 countries

Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, also called Mahakal's Nagari after the ancient Mahakaleshwar temple here, will witness the grand inauguration of the newly developed 'Mahakal Lok' on Tuesday, which will be live-streamed across 40 countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the first phase of the mega project at 6.30 p.m.

The ceremony of Mahakal Lok will be telecast live in 40 countries to connect the devotees of Lord Shiva. Here in Madhya Pradesh, all prominent temples of Lord Shiva will be decorated with hundreds of earthen lamps.

The Madhya Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has prepared an elaborate arrangement to make the occasion extravagant. The project in the holy city of Ujjain, which is expected to significantly boost tourism in the state, is a key part of the party's "cultural resurgence" plank to increase its support base in the state, country and across the globe ahead of the 2023 Assembly and then 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Foreign manufacturers need FSSAI nod from Feb 1 for milk, meat product exports

Food regulator FSSAI has made it mandatory for foreign food manufacturing facilities to register with it for exporting products such as meat, milk and infant foods to India.
This will be effective from February 1, 2023.
In an order issued on Monday, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) said that it has been decided that registrations of foreign food manufacturing facilities, falling under five food categories, who are intended to export these products shall be mandatory.
These categories are milk and milk products; meat and meat products, including poultry, fish and their products; egg powder; infant food; and nutraceuticals.
