Rupee weakening due to dollar strengthening, economy can't be blamed: Goyal

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday said that the Indian economy was not to be blamed for weakening of rupee, as this was mainly due to the strengthening of the dollar.
 
Addressing the Times Now summit, the minister, despite rising inflation, sounded an optimistic note, noting that compared to sky rocketing inflation in many countries, where it is ranging between 8 to 10 per cent, India has maintained a fair balance between inflation and interest rates and price rise in the country is much lower than compared to others.

President Murmu to launch health survey scheme on Nov 29 in Kurukshetra: Haryana CM

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said that President Droupadi Murmu will launch 'Mukhyamantri Swasthya Survekshan Yojana' from Kurukshetra on November 29 under which a health survey of more than 1.60 crore "Antyodaya" people of the state will be done.
 
The data of health services, being provided to 1.8 crore people, is available under the e-treatment scheme. Universal portal of e-Upchar will be developed to collect health data of all such people, said the chief minister while presiding over the review meeting of CHIRAYU Haryana Yojana and Mukhyamantri Swasthya Survekshan Yojana.

The minister, speaking at the Times Now Summit, said that Bullet Trains will be fully functional by 2026. On the redevelopment of railway stations, the minister said that master plans for 138 stations have been made, while designs have been finalised for as many as 57 stations.

Mumbai records 19 new cases of measles, one death

Mumbai on Thursday recorded 19 new cases of measles and one death related to the infection, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
 
As many as 34 new measles patients were admitted to civic or state-run hospitals in the city during the day while 36 patients were discharged, the BMC said in a release. Also, 161 suspected measles patients with symptoms like fever and rash on body were found during the BMC's surveys. The viral disease is more common among children.

A Delhi court on Thursday adjourned for December 12 arguments in a Rs 200-crore money laundering case against actor Jacqueline Fernandez, alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekar and others.
 
Special Judge Shailendra Malik adjourned the matter after the prosecution sought time to prepare arguments on the point of charge. The actor, who was granted bail on November 15, also appeared before the court during the brief proceedings.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed Ex AAP Municipal Councillor Tahir Hussain's plea challenging the trial court order on framing of charges in a money laundering case pertaining to North East Delhi Violence held in February 2020.
 
The Bench of Justice ANU Malhotra on Thursday rejected the petition. The court had kept the order reserved last week, after the conclusion of submissions made by both sides' lawyers.  Advocate Naveen Kumar Malhotra appeared for Tahir Hussain while Advocate Zohaib Hossain appeared for Enforcement Directorate in the case. Court heard the argument of both sides at length.

Indians overtake Chinese as largest group of foreign students in UK

Indian students have for the first time overtaken Chinese as the largest group of foreign students studying in the UK with a massive 273 per cent hike in visas granted over the past few years, according to the country's official immigration statistics released on Thursday.
 
The UK Home Office data collated by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveals that Indians also continue to be the top nationality granted visas in the skilled worker category, with 56,042 granted work visas in the past year. Indian nationals also represented the highest number of visas at 36 per cent of the total under the tailored Skilled Worker Health and Care visa targeted at medical professionals, reinforcing Indian contribution to the state-funded National Health Service (NHS).
