India yet to confirm participation in proposed SCO meet; Pakistan, China to attend
Russia has proposed Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Foreign Ministers meet in Moscow on September 10, the meet will also see the participation of Pakistan and China, according to an ANI report.
According to diplomatic sources, "On the same day, Russia has also offered to host BRICS Foreign Minister's meet."
Informed sources here told ANI that this meet was scheduled during pre- COVID times and India can only confirm its participation after evaluating the current situation, as of now there is no official confirmation that India will take part in the scheduled meetings in Moscow.
If India decides to take part, this will be the first time that foreign ministers of India, Pakistan and China will come face to face in the same group ever since the conflict at Line of Actual Control (LAC) broke out between India and China.

Assam floods: 3-4 days old Rhino calf rescued in Kaziranga National Park
While floods have wreaked havoc in 30 districts of Assam, four-day-old rhino calf was rescued in the Kaziranga National Park staff on Sunday morning.
All efforts are underway to reunite the calf with his mother.
"A 3-4 days old rhino baby was rescued by Kaziranga National Park staff at 10:30 am today and was taken to our Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC) for further observations. All possible efforts will be taken to reunite him with his mother," said Sailendra Pandey, the Public Relations Officer to the minister of environment and forest Parimal Suklabaidya.

BCCI planning for women's IPL, tournament under discussion
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to conduct the Women's Indian Premier League (IPL) or the Women's T20 Challenge this year and the tournament is under discussion, a source within the body has said.
"Plan for women's T20 challenge series is in our discussion. We have a plan for our women's team also," the source told ANI.
When asked about the training camp for the players, the source said "Of course there will be a training camp. We are working on it and soon we will have a proper plan to execute."
"As of now, can say that there is a window in November, most likely from 1-10, but this date is under discussion. Nothing has been finalised and we will sit and discuss each and every aspect," the source added.

World's highest rail bridge over Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir to be ready by next year
The world's highest railway bridge over river Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir will be ready by next year, and will connect the valley with the rest of India by train for the first time by 2022, officials said on Sunday.
The bridge, which has a central span of 467 metres, is being built at a height of 359 metres from the bed level. The height of Qutab Minar in Delhi is 72 metres and that of the Eiffel Tower in Paris is 324 metres.
"This is the tallest railway bridge in the world and the maximum designed wind speed for the bridge is 266 kmph," a senior government official said. Release of water by Nepal inundates 61 villages in Bahraich
Over 60 villages in the Bahraich district here have been inundated following the release of water by Nepal from its three barrages into rivers, a district administration official said on Sunday.
The release of water has affected over 1.50 lakh people and damaged 171 houses, he said, adding National Disaster Response Force personnel have been deployed in the area to rescue people.
"Following the release of lakhs of cusec of water by Nepal, at least 61 villages in the district have been inundated. The administration is providing relief to the affected people," Additional District Magistrate Jai Chandra Pandey said.

Raigarh police to distribute over 14 lakh masks on Raksha Bandhan
Police in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district will distribute over 14 lakh face masks to people on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on Monday, to urge the public to make efforts towards containing the spread of COVID-19.
As part of the drive, titled Ek Rakshasutra Mask ka (one safety string of mask), the police with the support of volunteers will offer masks to people in every police station area of Raigarh, a senior official said on Sunday.

Latest News LIVE update: Over 56 lakh people affected by Assam floods
More than 56 lakh people have been affected by the floods, which have wreaked havoc across 30 districts of Assam, according to a daily status report on Sunday.
According to the report, the total number of 56,89,584 people have been affected in 30 districts of Assam since May 22 and 109 people have lost their lives in flood-related incidents.
Meanwhile, the state government has set up 621 relief camps for the affected people. State Disaster Relief Force, National Disaster Relief Force, Circle Office, Civil Defence and Inland Water Transport and several locals are engaged in rescue operations.
So far, as many as 81,678 people have been evacuated. Notably, 2,62,723 hectares of crop area has also been affected by the floods. Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had visited several flood and erosion hit areas to take stock of the situation.

AIIB in discussion with India for financing $8-bn health infra scheme
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is in discussion with the Indian government for financing a USD 8-billion scheme for improving health infrastructure at the district level to make the country better prepared for the future healthcare challenges.
The Beijing-based multilateral funding agency had earlier approved a financial assistance of USD 1.2 billion for India to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The Government of India has discussed about its ambitious scheme of strengthening the health infrastructure. It entails building health infrastructure in every district including upgrading of testing facilities with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)," AIIB Vice President D J Pandian told PTI in an interview.
