Congress to move confidence motion in Rajathan Assembly: Party leader

The Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government will move a confidence motion in the Rajasthan Assembly during the session beginning Friday, a party leader said, according to a PTI report.

 

This was announced Thursday at the Congress Legislature Party meeting chaired by Gehlot. Just hours earlier, the opposition BJP said it will move a no-confidence motion during the session.

 

The session comes days after the top leadership of the Congress announced the return of Sachin Gehlot and 18 other dissident MLAs to the party-fold. Pilot had led a rebellion against Gehlot, seeking a change in the party's leadership in Rajasthan. At the CLP meeting held at his residence, Gehlot urged Congress MLAs to forget the acrimony of the past month and move on. The party has 107 MLAs in the 200 member assembly.

The problems in Rajasthan unit of Congress are due to their internal issues, the BJP has got nothing to do with it and they will be the only ones responsible, if and when the government falls in the state, said Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Thursday.

 

"I want to tell the Congress leaders and the Chief Minister that they should not put the burden of their failures on someone else's shoulder. The situation in Congress is due to their differences and internal rift, BJP has nothing to do with, whenever the Congress government (in the state) falls, it will be because of their own doings," Tomar told reporters.

 

The Union Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development was talking to reporters after having participated in a meeting with BJP MLAs from Rajasthan.

Rajasthan govt will complete its 5-year term under Gehlot's leadership: Sachin Pilot camp MLA

Rajasthan Congress MLA Vishvendra Singh, who was among the 19 rebel legislators, Thursday said the state government will complete its five-year tenure under the leadership of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

 

His statement came hours after his suspension from the party's primary membership was revoked. The former tourism minister also said he is a worker of the Congress party and will fulfil any responsibility given to him.

 

It is our duty that the MLAs remain protected and no vindictive action is taken. The high command has assured us so, he told PTI before his suspension was revoked.

Kozhikode plane crash: AI pilot unions seek meeting with Aviation Minister to discuss flight safety

The two leading pilot unions of Air India on Thursday sought a meeting with Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to discuss matters related to working conditions and flight safety, six days after the plane crash in Kozhikode that killed 18 people.

 

"Our pilots are constantly facing the challenges of COVID-19, monsoon weather, ill-designed flight duty time limitations (FDTL), several extensions and dispensations given by the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation)," stated the letter written to Puri by the Indian Commercial Pilots' Association (ICPA) and Indian Pilots' Guild (IPG).

 

The two unions said they are writing on behalf of pilots of Air India and its subsidiaries Air India Express and Alliance Air, according to a PTI report.

Sachin Pilot met Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot Thursday, the first time after he openly rebelled against the senior leader a month back, news agency PTI reported. Party leaders K C Venugopal, Avinash Pande, Randeep Surjewala, Ajay Maken and Govind Singh Dotasra were also there at the meeting, posing together for the cameras at Gehlot's official residence.

 

Pilot and Gehlot shook hands in a moment marking the return of the sacked deputy chief minister and 18 other dissident MLAs to the party-fold, after the intervention earlier this week by the top Congress leadership in Delhi.

 

Their meeting was followed by the Congress Legislature Party meeting, ahead of Friday's assembly session. The opposition BJP has already announced that it will seek a no-confidence motion against the Gehlot government during the session. The Congress has 107 MLAs in the 200-member assembly, and the BJP 72.
