Latest News LIVE: Moderate flash flood risk in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh
Neighbourhood areas of east Rajasthan and adjoining northeast Madhya Pradesh subdivision were at moderate risk of flash floods, the Central Water Commission (CWC) official flood forecast informed on Thursday, according to a PTI report.
"Moderate risk of flash floods over neighbourhood areas of east Rajasthan, adjoining northeast MP subdivision, neighbourhood areas of south Chhattisgarh adjoining to South Odisha, Telangana & north coastal Andhra Pradesh subdivision," the CWC said.
Additionally, the India Meteorological Department tweeted, "Moderate to severe thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, East Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during next 24 hours.

Kerala court rejects bail plea of key accused Swapna Suresh in gold smuggling case
A court on Thursday dismissed the bail plea of the key accused in Kerala gold smuggling case, Swapna Suresh and her co-accused, saying their instant release would certainly hamper the successful progress of investigation by the Customs Preventive Commissionerate, according to a PTI report.
Dismissing the bail applications of Suresh and Said Alavi, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Economic Offences, said it has found "great force" in the submission of the Customs that the petitioners are likely to tamper with evidence and help the absconding accused in the event of granting bail.

Rajasthan CM Gehlot calls for Congress Legislature Party meet at 5 pm
The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) is set to meet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday at 5 pm at his residence in Jaipur, according to a PTI report. On August 11, the first CLP meeting since a chance of reconciliation between Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot was held at Suryagarh hotel in Jaisalmer.
The reconciliation has come right ahead of the commencement of the session of the Rajasthan Assembly on August 14. Earlier in the day, Gehlot said whatever misunderstanding occurred within the Congress party in the last one month, need to be forgiven and forgotten in the interest of the country, state, people and in the interest of democracy.

India announces $500 million assistance for mega infra project in Maldives
India will fund the implementation of a major connectivity project in Maldives through a $400 million line of credit and $100 million grant, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Thursday after holding wide-ranging talks with his Maldivian counterpart Abdulla Shahid.
The 6.7 km Greater Male Connectivity Project (GMCP) will be the largest civilian infrastructure project in Maldives, connecting Male with three neighbouring islands -- Villingili, Gulhifahu and Thilafushi, officials said.
People familiar with the GMCP said it was a key election promise of the ruling MDP for which the President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih sought India's assistance during his meeting with Jaishankar in September last year. READ MORE...

Rajasthan BJP to move no-confidence motion against Congress govt
The BJP in Rajasthan will move a motion of no confidence in the state assembly against the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government, leader of opposition Gulab Chand Kataria said on Thursday. The decision was taken in a BJP legislature party meeting held on Thursday.
After the meeting, Kataria told reporters that the motion of no confidence will be moved in the assembly session which is beginning from Friday. The opposition party's decision comes days after an "amicable resolution" of the nearly month-long political cisis in Rajasthan, according to a PTI report.
