German fashion house Hugo Boss has appointed former Tommy Hilfiger boss Daniel Grieder as its next chief executive, it said on Tuesday.

 

Grieder, the former CEO of Tommy Hilfiger Global & PVH Europe, will start on June 1, 2021 and succeed Mark Langer, who is stepping down on Sept. 30, 2020 after serving as CEO of Hugo Boss since May 2016, the group said.

Australia accuses China and Russia of virus disinformation

China and Russia were using the heightened anxiety around the coronavirus pandemic to undermine Western democracies by spreading disinformation online, Australia's foreign minister said.

 

The disinformation contributed to a climate of fear and division when the world needed cooperation and understanding, Foreign Minister Marise Payne said in a speech at the Australian National University, a text of which was released by her office late Tuesday.

 

Concerningly, we have seen disinformation pushed and promoted around the coronavirus pandemic and around some of the social pressures that have been exacerbated by the pandemic, Payne said.

Rajnath Singh discusses Ladakh situation with top military brass, briefs PM

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held two-back-to-back meetings with top military brass on Tuesday deliberating on the situation in eastern Ladakh after an Indian Army officer and two soldiers were killed in a violent clash with Chinese troops in Galwan Valley.

Punjab Police probationer sub-inspector discharged from service

Taking serious note of the spate of criminal acts and indiscipline shown by a probationer sub-inspector was on Tuesday discharged from service with immediate effect on charges of sexual misconduct and continued and frequent absence from duty, Punjab Police said on Tuesday.

 

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Patiala, Jatinder Singh Aulkah on Tuesday discharged Aditya Sharma from service.

 

Sharma has been at the centre of a controversy, with two FIRs filed against him by a woman who he allegedly sexually assaulted and then married, apparently to escape disciplinary action, according to a police spokesperson.

Closely monitoring India-China situation, says US

The United States is closely monitoring the situation following a fierce clash between Indian and Chinese forces in eastern Ladakh and hopes that the differences will be resolved peacefully, officials said.
