Pakistan submits draft report on terror funding to FATF ahead of plenary: Report
Pakistan has submitted its initial draft report to the joint group of Financial Action Task Force (FATF), showing compliance of the remaining 13 points out of 27 action points pertaining to terror funding, ahead of the plenary meet scheduled for October, The News International reported on Tuesday.
Top official sources said that Pakistan would share its updated version of the progress report to the FATF review group in the first week of September. The first draft was sent to the FATF on August 6.
"A face to face virtual meeting of FATF review group is scheduled to take place from September 14 to 21 where Pakistani authorities will be given an opportunity to defend their position with full force," a top official was quoted as saying. READ MORE...

Fantasy league platform Dream11 gets title sponsorship rights for IPL 2020
Fantasy league platform Dream11 has got the sponsorship rights for this year's edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
"BCCI has awarded the title sponsorship of IPL 2020 to Dream11," sources close to the development confirmed to IANS. While the BCCI received Rs 440 crore per year from Vivo, Dream11 may pay BCCI aproximately Rs 250 crore for the upcoming edition - which will be played in the UAE from September 19 to November 10, sources added.
Meanwhile, Aditya Verma, Secretary of Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB), said that the development was against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat' agenda.
"As a well-wisher of Indian sports, I wish and pray that IPL 13 is held successfully in the UAE," Verma told IANS.

Amid Covid-19, India records 2721 swine flu cases till July this year
Even as the country has been hit by COVID-19 pandemic, India has reported about 2,721 cases of deadly swine flu virus with 44 deaths this year, according to an ANI report. According to the official data of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as on 31 July, it has registered at least 2,721 H1N1 cases and 44 people lost their life.
The top five states which have reported maximum cases of swine flu cases are Karnataka (458), Telangana (443), Delhi (412), Tamil Nadu (253) and Uttar Pradesh (252).

Around 3.65 crore jobs to be generated in construction of houses under PMAY(U): Hardeep Singh Puri
Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday said around 3.65 crore jobs would be generated in the construction of houses sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in the country, according to a PTI report. Speaking at a webinar organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Puri said that so far, 1.65 crore jobs have already been generated under the PMAY(U).
The Union housing and urban affairs minister said that the ministry has sanctioned 1.07 crore houses against the demand of 1.12 crore and of these, 67 lakh houses have been grounded for construction and 35 lakh delivered so far.

Amid border tensions with China, LCA Tejas deployed on western front
In a significant achievement for the indigenous fighter aircraft programme, the Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed the home-grown Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas on the western front along the Pakistan border in view of the tensions with China on the Ladakh front.
"The LCA Tejas was deployed by the Indian Air Force on the western front close to the Pakistan border to take care of any possible action by the adversary there," government sources told ANI.

People's Bank of China among 357 investors to acquire stake in ICICI Bank
After the disclosure of a holding in HDFC, the Chinese central bank Peoples Bank of China has now acquired an equity stake in ICICI Bank.
The government had in April notified new norms for FDI investments by neighbouring countries which would require approvals. It is not clear if portfolio investments need to go through some vetting process or the government will continue with this open route till the time no FDI approval is required.
The investment by the Chinese central bank in ICICI Bank is modest. It subscribed to the recent ICICI Bank's Rs 15,000 crore capital qualified institutional investors (QIP) placement and invested Rs 15 crore. READ MORE...

40% of our population will live in urban centres by 2030: Hardeep Singh Puri
As per expectation 40 per cent of India's population will live in urban regions by 2030 and we will have to build six to eight hundred million square metres of urban space for it, said Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday.
"40 per cent of our population or 600 million Indians are expected to live in our urban centres by 2030. To cater to this growing urban population, India has to build 600 to 800 million square metres of urban space every year till 2030," Puri said at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Webinar on Atmanirbhar Bharat.
"5,151 projects worth more than Rs 2 lakh crore were identified in 100 smart cities. As of today, the mission has tendered around 4,700 projects worth Rs. 1,66,000 crore which is about 81 per cent of the total projects proposed," he added.

Govt jobs in Madhya Pradesh only for state residents: CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday announced that state government jobs will be reserved only for local residents, for which his government is going to take necessary steps.
Chouhan told reporters that the state government has taken a key decision that government jobs in Madhya Pradesh will now be given only to the residents of the state. "For this, we are making necessary legal provisions. Madhya Pradesh's resources are for the children of the state," he said.
