Ravi Shankar Prasad to share G20 platform with Chinese counterpart first time since India banned 59 Chinese apps
For the first time after India banned 59 Chinese apps over security issues last month, Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad will share a platform with China's digital minister Miao Wei at the G20 Digital Ministers virtual meeting on Wednesday.
The Digital Economy Ministers meeting will take place as part of the Sherpa Track for the G20 Leaders Summit 2020, which is to be hosted by Saudi Arabia at the end of 2020, according to an ANI report.
Consultations for the annual G20 meeting are conducted through three tracks -- government discussions take place under the Finance and Sherpa Tracks and civil society organisations participate through engagement groups.

Latest News LIVE update: Sensex sheds 59 points; Nifty settles below 11,150
Snapping its five-session winning run, equity benchmark Sensex dropped 59 points on Wednesday, dragged by losses in Infosys, HUL and HDFC Bank amid weak cues from global markets. After swinging 599 points in a volatile session, the 30-share BSE benchmark finished 58.81 points, or 0.16 per cent, lower at 37,871.52, news agency PTI reported.
Similarly, the NSE Nifty slipped 29.65 points, or 0.27 per cent, to close at 11,132.60. HUL was the top loser in the Sensex pack, shedding around 3 per cent, followed by Tata Steel, Infosys, Maruti, IndusInd Bank, L&T, Asian Paints and TCS.
On the other hand, Axis Bank, Titan, PowerGrid, ITC, NTPC and Reliance Industries were among the gainers.

SC asks judicial panel to probe Vikas Dubey case, submit report in two months
The Supreme Court on Wednesday accepted the appointment of a three-member inquiry commission headed by former top court judge Justice B S Chauhan into the encounter of gangster Vikas Dubey, and asked it to submit the report within two months to the court and the Uttar Pradesh government.
A bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde also told the Uttar Pradesh police not to resort to further encounters to eliminate dreaded gangsters in the state.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the UP police, informed the top court that the state government proposes former apex court judge Justice Chauhan's name to head the three-member inquiry commission into the encounter of Vikas Dubey and his associates. READ MORE...

Latest News LIVE update: Rupee settles flat at 74.75 against US dollar
The rupee pared its initial gains and settled on a flat note at 74.75 (provisional) against the US dollar on Wednesday amid muted domestic equities and strengthening American currency, according to a PTI report. At the interbank forex market, the domestic unit opened on a strong note at 74.61 against US dollar, but pared the gains and settled for the day at 74.75, down 1 paise from its previous close of 74.74 against the greenback.
During the session, the domestic unit witnessed high volatility and saw an intra-day high of 74.59 and a low of 74.87 against the American currency. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, rose 0.27 per cent to 95.37.
On the domestic equity market front, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex was trading 198.68 points lower at 37,731.65 and broader NSE Nifty fell 65.20 points to 11,097.05.

Vikas Dubey's mother asks her younger son to surrender to UP Police
Gangster Vikas Dubey's mother, Sarla Dubey, has appealed to her younger son, Deep Prakash Dubey, to surrender to the police.
In a message conveyed through media persons, Sarla Dubey said that if Deep Prakash did not surrender, he would probably meet the same fate as his elder brother who was killed in a police encounter on July 10.
Deep Prakash Dubey, who has been absconding after the July 3 incident in which eight policemen were killed in Bikru village during a shootout, now carries a reward of Rs 20,000 on his head. Death toll in Uttarakhand cloudburst rises to eight with recovery of five more bodies
The death toll in the cloudburst that wreaked havock in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district two days ago has risen to eight with the recovery of five more bodies at a village, state officials said on Wednesday.
The bodies were pulled out of debris in Tanga village of Munsiyari on Tuesday evening, the State Emergency Operation Centre said. Eleven people had gone missing in Tanga after the cloudburst in the area at around 3.40 am on Monday, it said. Six people are still missing in the village, according to a PTI report.
Three bodies had been recovered from the adjoining Gaila Pattharkot village on Monday, it said. Gaila Pattharkot, Tanga, Bata and Sirtaul villages in the district were affected by the cloudburst. Damage to five houses and livestock casualties were reported from Bata and Sirtaul.
