Punjab govt acted swiftly in Hoshiarpur case: CM Amarinder
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Sunday asserted that his government had taken swift action in the Hoshiarpur rape-murder case in sharp contrast to the Uttar Pradesh government's response to the Hathras incident.
He said the challan in this case will be presented in court this week.

Modi to interact with PM SVANidhi beneficiaries in UP on Oct 27
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the beneficiaries of PM SVANidhi Scheme from Uttar Pradesh on October 27, the Prime Ministers Office said in a statement.
Modi will interact in the event at 10.30 am via videoconference. The interaction will be witnessed by beneficiaries of the scheme from across the state of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister of Yogi Adityanath will also be present on the occasion.

MP bypolls: 18% candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves, says report
Out of 355 candidates contesting in Madhya Pradesh bypolls, 63 (18 per cent) have declared criminal cases against themselves, according to a report by poll rights group Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
Eleven per cent or 39 candidates have declared serious criminal cases against themselves, the report said.
Serious criminal cases are non-bailable offences with over five years of imprisonment.
