6,500 Pak terrorists present in Afghanistan, most belong to TTP: UN report

The total number of Pakistani terrorists in Afghanistan is estimated at between 6,000 and 6,500, most of them belonging to the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), posing a threat to both countries, according to a report by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The 26th report of the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team concerning ISIS, al-Qaeda and associated individuals and entities was submitted by the 1267 monitoring committee of the UNSC. The report stated that TTP, which is a large terrorist group present in Afghanistan, is led by Amir Noor Wali Mehsud, supported by his deputy Qari Amjad and spokesperson Mohammad Khorasani.

Over one million people affected in Bihar floods, 7 dead

Over one million people were affected and over 15,000 others have been staying in shelter homes due to floods in Bihar, the state disaster management department said on Saturday. Seven people have lost their lives in the deluge. According to the department, 22 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF)/State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in the state. "10,61,152 people have been affected due to floods in Bihar and 15,956 people are staying in shelter homes. 22 teams of NDRF/SDRF have been deployed in the state," the government stated in the daily flood bulletin. In Darbhanga, police officials have shifted in their vehicle to carry out day-to-day work as floodwater.

BSF jawan deployed in J-K's Kathua receives bullet injury

A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan on Saturday was rushed to a government hospital in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba and further evacuated to Army hospital after receiving a bullet injury. The injured jawan was deployed at a border outpost in Kathua district when he suffered the bullet injury. According to BSF sources, he is under treatment and reportedly out of danger.

One soldier killed, three injured in terror attack in Pak

A Pakistani army soldier was killed and three others were injured when their convoy was ambushed by terrorists in the restive Baluchistan's Turbat area on Saturday, an official statement said. The incident happened after terrorists opened fire on the security forces during their routine patrolling near Pidarak in Kech district, approximately 35 kilometres southeast of Turbat, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement. During the exchange of fire, Lance Naik Javed Karim was killed while three other soldiers got injured, the ISPR said.

Two children drown in Assam's Barpeta district

Two children drowned in a river in Assam's Barpeta district on Saturday when they fell into the water while playing, officials said. The incident happened near their houses at Barvita under the Kalgachiya revenue circle of the district, they said. Local people fished out the bodies of Shariful Islam (4) and Rabiya Khatun (2). The bodies were sent to Barpeta Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination, the official added.

Cong to run nationwide digital campaign 'Speak Up For Democracy' on Sunday

The Congress has decided will run a nationwide digital campaign -- 'Speak Up For Democracy' -- on Sunday against the BJP's "attempts to violate constitutional and democratic values and tradition", a party leader said.
 
All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Avinash Pande said the campaign will start at 10 am on Sunday.
 
He alleged that the BJP has been "constantly striking at constitutional institutions and values". Attempts were being made to topple elected state governments one after another, Pande alleged.

India, China complete troop disengagement at three friction points, focus now on Finger area: ANI

In a significant development, troops of India and China have completed disengagement at Galwan Valley, Patrolling Point 15, and Hot Springs/Gogra area in Eastern Ladakh amid the ongoing talks at the diplomatic and military level, sources said.
 
"The ongoing engagement and dialogue between India and China at the military and diplomatic levels has resulted in complete disengagement at Patrolling Point 14 (Galwan area), 15 and 17 A (Hot Springs/Gogra) in eastern Ladakh," a source told ANI here.
 
The sources said that after disengagement in these areas as per agreements in the last Corps Commander-level talks, the only area where disengagement is left to be implemented is the Finger area along the Pangong Tso lake.
 
A meeting between the senior military commanders is expected in the coming week to further work out modalities of the Pangong Tso lake area, they added.

70,000 ineligible beneficiaries of social security removed: Punjab CM

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Saturday said the 70,000 odd beneficiaries removed from the ambit of social security were fraudulent cases who were drawing benefits at the cost of genuine ones.
 
Singh further said the Rs 162.35 crore that he had ordered to be recovered from them will now go into raising the amount of financial assistance to the deserving beneficiaries.

A 13-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by her school manager, teachers and others in Alwar district of Rajasthan, police said on Saturday.
 
An FIR against 13 people including three women teachers of the school was registered at Narayanpur Police Station under relevant sections of POCSO and IPC on Friday.

Three people were killed Saturday when an ultralight aircraft crashed into a multi-family home in western Germany, police said.
 
North Rhine-Westphalia police said the aircraft crashed into the roof of the house in the town of Wesel, sparking a fire, the dpa news agency reported.

Punjab CM hails Canada's move of not recognising 'Referendum 2020'

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Saturday welcomed Canada's decision not to recognise the results of 'Referendum 2020' being organised by the pro-Khalistan group 'Sikhs for Justice (SFJ)'.
 
'Referendum 2020' is a campaign by the SFJ for a separate Sikh state.
 
He hoped that other countries too would follow Canada's example and reject the "secessionist 'Referendum 2020'", which the SFJ was promoting to divide India on communal lines.

Gehlot govt wants assembly session on July 31, drafts new proposal for Governor

The Ashok Gehlot Cabinet on Saturday cleared a revised proposal to be sent to the Governor, asking that a session of the assembly should be called on July 31, sources said.
 
Governor Kalraj Mishra had sought Friday clarifications on six points from the state government, after Congress MLAs held a five-hour dharna on the lawns of the Raj Bhawan pressing for a Vidhan Sabha session.
 
The dharna was called off, according to the Congress, after Mishra said he will abide by the Constitution but not act under any pressure.

Peter Green, the dexterous blues guitarist who led the first incarnation of Fleetwood Mac in a career shortened by psychedelic drugs and mental illness, has died. He was 73.
 
The law firm, Swan Turton, announced the death in a statement Saturday. It said he died “peacefully in his sleep". A further statement will be provided in the coming days.
