Kanpur encounter: Security was heightened in Noida Sector 16

Amid speculation that wanted gangster Vikas Dubey might surrender either in a court or a news channel office, police presence had been increased outside such premises in Noida's Sector 16.  It was apprehended that the gangster might sneak into any news channel office to evade the UP Police, which is trying to arrest the absconding accused in the killing of eight policemen as early as possible.

YES Bank's Rs 15,000 crore FPO to open on July 15

Private sector lender YES Bank on Thursday said it has filed paper for its proposed follow-on public offer, through which the lender is aiming to raise Rs 15,000 crore.

Remembering veteran actor-comic Jagdeep as a humble human being loved by millions, megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Thursday said the Hindi film industry lost "another gem" in his death.

 

Jagdeep died on Wednesday at his residence at the age of 81.

 

Bachchan, who worked with the actor in his career-defining run as Soorma Bhopali in "Sholay" and "Shahenshah", said Jagdeep had crafted a "unique individual style" of his own.

 

"Last night we lost another gem. Jagdeep... the actor of exceptional comedic repertoire, passed away.

 

"He had crafted a unique individual style of his own... and I had the honour of working with him in several films... the more prominent ones in the eyes of the audience being 'Sholay' and 'Shahenshah'," Bachchan wrote on his blog.

2 more aides of gangster Vikas Dubey killed in separate encounters in UP: Police

Two more aides of gangster Vikas Dubey, wanted in connection with the Kanpur ambush in which eight policemen were killed, were gunned down in separate encounters in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, police said.

 

While Kartikeya alias Prabhat was killed in Kanpur when he tried to flee from police custody, another aide of Vikas Dubey, Praveen alias Bauwa Dubey, was shot dead in an encounter in Etawah, they added.

 

Kartikeya, who was arrested from Faridabad on Wednesday, was being brought to Kanpur on transit remand when he snatched the pistol of a policeman and tried to flee, ADG, Law and Order Prashant Kumar said.
