Fire at Mundka warehouse under control

A major fire at a warehouse in west Delhi's Mundka has been contained after an eight- hour operation, a Delhi Fire Service official said on Thursday.
 
No casualty has been reported, he said.
 
A call about the fire was received at around 10 pm on Wednesday and 34 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, said Atul Garg, Director of the Delhi Fire Service.

Six injured in explosion at fireworks factory in China

Six persons were injured in an explosion at a fireworks factory in China's southwest Sichuan province, state media reported on Thursday.
 
The blast, triggered by a fire, took place late on Wednesday night in Guanghan city's Nanfeng town.
 
The blaze was spotted by the factory's guards who called the police. A huge explosion occurred during the evacuation, leading to the injuries to six persons.

After syllabus row erupts, CBSE comes up with clarification

After the controversy broke out over the CBSE's decision to drop topics like citizenship, federalism, secularism etc while reducing the syllabus for Classes 9 to 12 due to Covid-19 pandemic, the education board came up with a detailed clarification on Wednesday, stating that topics claimed to be dropped "are either being covered by the rationalised syllabus or in the Alternative Academic Calendar of NCERT".
 
The CBSE said it had to come up with the clarification after realizing its decision was "interpreted differently".

Defence Minister likely to inaugurate key border infra projects today

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to inaugurate on Thursday multiple border infrastructure projects in strategically key areas including in the western sector, PTI reported quoting goverment sources.
 
A number of bridges in the border areas will be virtually inaugurated, they added.
 
The government had told the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to continue with its infrastructure projects in the region near the Line of Actual Control (LAC), even as a standoff began on May 5 between the Indian and Chinese armies in eastern Ladakh.
 
The LAC is de facto border between India and China.
 
Singh had chaired a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review the progress of various infrastructure projects that are under construction in border areas including Ladakh region.
