Australian state sets new high for Covid deaths
Australia's most populous state, New South Wales, made the reporting of rapid antigen test results mandatory Wednesday as it experienced its deadliest day of the pandemic with 21 deaths. State Premier Dominic Perrottet said residents who failed to register a positive rapid antigen test would face a fine of up to 1,000 Australian dollars (USD721) starting next week, the AP reported.

Tourists entry restricted at Patnitop in Jammu and Kashmir

Amit Shah seeks suggestions on amending IPC
Home Minister Amit Shah has sought suggestions from MPs on the proposed amendments in the Indian Penal Code, CrPC and the Indian Evidence Act, PTI reported. In a letter to the MPs and others, Shah said that the experience of seven decades of Indian democracy calls for a comprehensive review of the criminal laws. especially the IPC 1860, the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) 1973 and the Indian Evidence Act 1872 and adapt them in accordance with the contemporary needs and aspirations of the people.

Haryana accepts key demand of doctors after protests
The Haryana government declared as illegal protests by doctors at state-run hospitals after they suspended work to press for their demands, PTI reported. The government accepted one of their demands, with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar giving in-principle approval to the creation of specialist cadre post for MD or MS doctors.

Deadline to file ITR extended till March
The government on Tuesday extended till March 15 the deadline for corporates to file Income Tax returns for the fiscal ended March 2021. The deadline to file tax audit report and transfer pricing audit report for 2020-21 fiscal too has been extended till February 15.

Gadkari tests positive for Covid-19
Union minister Nitin Gadkari has again tested positive for coronavirus. Gadkari, 64, said he has isolated himself and is under home quarantine. He had tested positive in September last year.
