Delhi receives light rain, AQI continues to remain in 'very poor' category

Several parts of the national capital received light rainfall early on Friday morning.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said has predicted a generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle in Delhi today.

The IMD said that the minimum temperature in Delhi dropped to 9 degrees Celsius, owing to the rain and maximum the maximum temperature is expected to touch 17 degrees Celsius.

The Enforcement Directorate has arrested a nephew of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, accusing him of involvement in a money laundering case linked to illegal sand mining. Bhupinder Singh Honey was arrested late Thursday night, PTI reported.

CBI files case against Amrapali Smart City developers

The CBI has filed a case against developers of Amrapali Smart City and four people, including the firm's director Anil Kumar Sharma, for an alleged bank fraud of over Rs 472 crore, officials said on Thursday. The company has allegedly caused a loss of Rs 472.24 crore to a consortium of banks comprising the erstwhile Corporation Bank (now the Union Bank of India), the Oriental Bank of Commerce (now the Punjab National Bank) and the Union Bank of India, PTI reported.

IMF's Georgieva calls Indian Budget 'thoughtful policy agenda'

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's Budget is a “thoughtful policy agenda” for India, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has said. “We have been projecting a quite robust growth for India. Yes, there is a small downgrade versus our previous projection from 9.5 per cent to 9 per cent for 2022. But then we also have a small upgrade for 2023, because we think that we will see a stable growth not very different from (those projected by) the Minister of Finance,” Georgieva said, according to PTI.
