Delhi HC notices to SDMC, DJB over maintenance of 'Westend Greens' civic amenities

The Delhi High Court has issued notice to South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) on a plea moved by a society Westend Greens, seeking directions to take over and maintain the civic amenities and other facilities and other statutory and public services of the colony 'Westend Greens', situated in revenue areas of Villages Rajokari, Rangpuri, and Samalka, New Delhi.

The bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri last week sought a response and listed the matter for July 25, 2022.

Telangana govt to protest against Centre's paddy procurement policy today

To mark a protest against the Centre's discriminatory paddy procurement policy, Telangana Government has announced to stage Dharna in Delhi on Monday morning.

Telangana Government elected representatives, TRS party MPs, MLCs, MLAs and elected representatives of urban and rural local bodies will join the protest against the Union Government.

The Telangana Government will sit on a day-long dharna on April 11 in Delhi to stage a protest against the Union government's discriminatory paddy procurement policy, which is impacting 61 lakh farmers and their families.

6 workers killed in blast at chemical factory in Bharuch

Six workers were killed in a blast which triggered a fire in a chemical factory in Gujarat's Bharuch district on Monday, officials said.

A fire broke out on the farms of Kachhwa village in Haryana's Karnal district on Sunday destroying standing wheat crop spread over 200 acres.
 
The affected farmers informed that the fire took place due to a short circuit in the reaper that was working in a field to make stubble after harvesting crops.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to meet US counterpart at Pentagon today

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh who arrived in Washington DC on Sunday as part of his five-day US visit will meet his US counterpart Lloyd J Austin III at the Pentagon on Monday.

Rajnath Singh arrived in Washington as part of his five-day US visit which includes the India-US 2+2 ministerial dialogue. He will be in the US from April 10 to April 15 to hold talks with US leadership on ways to deepen the India-US strategic partnership.

"I would be leaving New Delhi tonight for a visit to the United States from April 10 to April 15. I look forward to attending the Fourth India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in Washington DC. Also, I shall be visiting INDOPACOM headquarters in Hawai, during this visit," Defence Minister said in a tweet on Saturday.

PM Modi to hold virtual interaction with US President Joe Biden today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with President Joe Biden virtually on Monday to further deepen ties between India and the US and discuss a range of issues including the COVID-19 pandemic, climate crisis, global economy and Indo-Pacific.

"President Biden and Prime Minister Modi will discuss cooperation on a range of issues including ending the COVID-19 pandemic, countering the climate crisis, strengthening the global economy, and upholding a free, open, rules-based international order to bolster security, democracy, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific," White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said on Sunday (local time).

Both the leaders will also advance ongoing conversations about the development of an Indo-Pacific Economic Framework and delivering high-quality infrastructure.
