Cong govt to complete full term in Rajasthan: Gehlot

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said the Congress government will complete its five years and that the next budget will be dedicated to students and the youth.

He also said the Congress will not let the BJP succeed in its plan to topple the government.

"We will complete five years and I have said the next budget will be presented for students and the youth," Gehlot told reporters while replying to a question whether he will present the fifth budget of the incumbent government in the state.

Kharge resigns as Leader of Opposition in RS; Digvijaya, Chidambaram in race to replace him

Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has resigned as the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, sources said on Saturday, a day after he filed his nomination papers for the AICC president's election.

Kharge's resignation, which the 80-year-old leader sent to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, is in line with the party's declared 'One person, One post' principle that was announced at the Udaipur 'Chintan Shivir' in May.

The resignation letter was sent by Kharge last night, the sources said.

Senior leaders P Chidambaram and Digvijaya Singh are learnt to be the front-runners to take on the mantle of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha.

Avalanche near Uttarakhand's Kedarnath Temple, no damage reported

An avalanche occurred behind the Kedarnath Dham in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand on Saturday but no damage was caused to the temple, the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee President informed.

"An avalanche occurred this morning in the Himalayan region but no damage was sustained to the Kedarnath temple," Ajendra Ajay, President, Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee told ANI.

Bharti Airtel launching 5G in 8 cities, to cover entire country by March 2024

Bharti Airtel is launching 5G telecom services in eight cities, including four metros, on Saturday and will progressively cover the entire country by March 2024, its chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said.

Speaking at the IMC 2022, he said the nation's oldest private telecom operator is launching 5G mobile services in eight major cities and will cover most parts by March 2023 and the entire country by March 2024.

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani on Saturday announced that his telcom firm Reliance Jio will launch 5G services across the country by December 2023.

Jio is rapidly progressing to roll out 5G services within this month.

Speaking at the IMC 2022 event, Ambani said Jio will launch affordable 5G services and cover every nook and corner of the country by December 2023.

Modi drives 5G-enabled remote car, experiences AR-VR wearables

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday experienced several 5G use cases first-hand here, along with driving a car remotely and enjoying augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) via wearable devices.

Inaugurating the four-day India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022 at Pragati Maidan in the national capital, Modi visited several 5G pavilions and encouraged domestic startups to build 5G use cases.

At Swedish telecommunication giant Ericsson's booth, Modi drove a car in Sweden via a 5G-enabled solution.

He also visited a booth of a consortium of nearly 100 domestic startups working towards developing 5G solutions to solve India's real-time problems across health care, education, disaster management etc.

Toyota Kirloskar sales up 66% to 15,378 units in September

Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Saturday said its wholesales increased by 66 per cent to 15,378 units in September as compared to the same month last year.

The Bengaluru-based automaker had dispatched 9,284 units to its dealers in September 2021.

Karnataka: Rahul Gandhi resumes Bharat Jodo Yatra from Tondavadi Gate on its 24th day

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday resumed the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Tondavadi Gate in the Gundlupet region of Karnataka's Chamarajanagar.

Today marks the Yatra's 24th day, which began at 6.30 am and will reach its first break point at Kalale Gate near Servo Motors at 10 am.

After resuming from Kalale Gate at 4.30 pm, the Congress leader walk to Chikkayana Chatra Thandavapura in Mysore by 7 pm.

The participants of the 3,500-km march from Kanyakumari to Kashmir will stay opposite the Maharaja Institute of Technology (MIT) in Thandavapura of Mysore at night.

Hackers exploiting 2 new zero-day bugs in Exchange Server: Microsoft

Microsoft has revealed it is investigating two new zero-day vulnerabilities affectingAthe company's Exchange Server which is actively being exploited by hackers.

Microsoft said it is aware of limited targeted attacks using these two vulnerabilities.

The company said an attacker would need authenticated access to the vulnerable Exchange Server, such as stolen credentials, to successfully exploit either of the two vulnerabilities.

"In these attacks, CVE-2022-41040 can enable an authenticated attacker to remotely trigger CVE-2022-41082. It should be noted that authenticated access to the vulnerable Exchange Server is necessary to successfully exploit either vulnerability," Microsoft said in a security update.

Pakistan government's Twitter account withheld in India, again

The Twitter account of the Pakistan government has been withheld in India. This is reportedly the second such incident in recent months.

This account was withheld earlier in July as well but had been reactivated and was visible. Today, again the account displayed the message of being withheld in India.

"@GovtofPakistan account has been withheld in India in response to a legal demand," is seen while accessing the Twitter handle.

According to Twitter guidelines, the microblogging site takes such action in response to a valid legal demand, such as a court order.

Currently, the Twitter feed of the Pakistan government "@GovtofPakistan" is not visible to Indian users.

North Korea conducts 4th round of missile tests in 1 week

North Korea on Saturday test-fired two short-range ballistic missiles, its neighbours said, the fourth round this week of weapons launches that prompted quick, strong condemnation from its rivals.

In an unusually strong rebuke of North Korea's weapons programs, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said North Korea's obsession with nuclear weapons is deepening the suffering of its own people, and warned of an overwhelming response from South Korean and US militaries should such weapons be used.

North Korea hasn't abandoned its obsession with nukes and missiles despite the persistent international objection in the past 30 years, Yoon said during an Armed Forces Day ceremony.

PM inaugurates IMC 2022 exhibition, experiences 5G tech by different operators

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022 exhibition ahead of the formal launch of 5G mobile telephony services in India.

After inaugurating the exhibition at Pragati Maidan here, he went around pavilions set up by different telecom operators and technology providers to get a first-hand experience of what 5G can do.

He started with Reliance Jio's stalls, where he witnessed the 'True 5G' devices displayed and experienced the use case through Jio Glass.

Flanked by Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and billionaires Mukesh Ambani of Reliance, Sunil Bharti Mittal of Bharti Airtel and Kumar Mangalam Birla of Vodafone Idea, he spent time understanding the indigenous development of end-to-end 5G technology.

He thereafter visited stalls of Airtel, Vodafone Idea, C-DOT and others.
