BJP's Varun Gandhi shares clip of Vajpayee's speech in support of farmers

BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Thursday posted on Twitter a short clip of a speech of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee from 1980 in which he warns the then Indira Gandhi government against repressing farmers and extends his support to them.
 
Gandhi tweeted, "Wise words from a big-hearted leader..."
 
The BJP MP has been vocal in empathising with farmers agitating against the three agri laws enacted by the Modi government and sharing Vajpayee's speech is seen as his message to the central government.

New Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court takes oath

Justice Ravi Vijaykumar Malimath was Thursday sworn as the new Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Governor Mangubhai Patel administered the oath of office to Malimath in Bhopal. Malimath, 59, is the 26th Chief Justice of the MP High Court.

Passenger vehicle sales drop 40% in Sep, says group

India's total domestic passenger vehicle sales fell 41.2% in September from a year ago, Reuters reported quoting data from an auto industry association. Total domestic passenger vehicles fell 160,070 units from 272,027 units a year ago, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said, as a semiconductor crunch and high commodity prices exacerbated problems for automakers.

Chhath puja celebrations should be allowed in Delhi as the coronavirus pandemic has slowed down, said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday in a letter Anil Baijal, the lieutenant governor of the national capital. Kejriwal requested Baijal to call a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, which had prohibited Chhath celebrations at public places.
