More than 2.5 million people have fled Ukraine, UN says

More than 2.5 million people have fled Ukraine as of March 11, the U.N. migration agency said on its website on Friday.
 
That represents around 200,000 additional refugees since the International Organisation for Migration's last report through to March 10.
 
Separately, the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said on Friday that at least 1.85 million people were displaced within Ukraine.

NOTA voters count increases in Gautam Buddh district

The number of voters who opted for the NOTA on the EVM during the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls this time increased in all three assembly constituencies of Gautam Buddh district as compared to 2017, official results showed. Noida, Dadri and Jewar assembly seats in Gautam Buddh Nagar were won by BJP's Pankaj Singh, Tejpal Nagar and Dhirendra Singh, respectively, in 2017 state polls as well as in 2022, PTI reported.

UP Congress chief comes third in election

Ajay Kumar Lallu, president of the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh, came third in the Tamkuhi Raj constituency, bagging 33,496 votes in elections. BJP leader Asim Kumar won the seat and Uday Narayan of Samajwadi Party came second. OBC leader Swami Prasad Maurya, who quit the BJP and the state government to join the Samajwadi Party, lost in Fazilnagar by more than 45,000 votes, PTI reported.

Rajeshwar Singh, former ED officer, wins Lucknow seat for BJP

BJP candidate Rajeshwar Singh, a former officer of the Enforcement Directorate, won the Sarojini Nagar seat in Lucknow. Singh got 1.60 lakh (or 49.07 per cent) of the total votes cast. Singh, who turns 49 on Friday, began his civil service career with the Uttar Pradesh Police, in which he served for about 10 years. The next 14 years of his service were in the Enforcement Directorate, which he had joined on central deputation in 2007, PTI reported.
