Digvijaya Singh questions surgical strikes, BJP accuses Cong of insulting armed forces in 'hate' for Modi

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Monday questioned the surgical strikes and accused the government of peddling lies, drawing furious reaction from the BJP which said the opposition party was blinded by its "hate" for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has "insulted" armed forces.
 
Addressing a public meeting during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir, Singh alleged that the government did not agree to the CRPF request of flying its personnel from Srinagar to Delhi and 40 soldiers sacrificed their lives in Pulwama in 2019 to a terror attack.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi named the 21 largest unnamed islands of Andaman and Nicobar Islands after Param Vir Chakra awardees in a ceremony on Monday on the occasion of Parakram Diwas.
 
PM Modi also unveiled the model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji to be built on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep, earlier known as Ross Islands. Home Minister Amit Shah was also present at the ceremony in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Tata Motors, ICICI Bank tie up to offer financing solutions to its passenger EV dealers

Tata Motors on Monday said it has partnered with ICICI Bank to offer financing solutions to its authorised passenger electric vehicle dealers.
 
Under the partnership, ICICI Bank will provide inventory funding to the authorised passenger EV dealers in addition to the bank's funding to dealers for diesel and petrol models, Tata Motors said in a statement.

Third Hindu temple vandalised in Australia within fortnight: Report

A third Hindu temple has been vandalised within a fortnight in Australia's Victoria state allegedly by "Khalistani supporters" with anti-India graffiti, according to a media report on Monday.
 
The management of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple also known as the Hare Krishna Temple in Melbourne's Albert Park on Monday morning found the walls of the revered temple vandalised with graffiti Hindustan Murdabad, The Australia Today website reported.

Siddaramaiah won't contest Assembly polls from Kolar, claims Yediyurappa

Senior BJP leader B S Yediyurappa on Monday claimed that Congress leader Siddaramaiah was allegedly playing a drama by saying he would not contest the Assembly polls from Kolar segment as announced, and may go back to his home district of Mysuru instead.
 
Ending speculation, Siddaramaiah had earlier this month announced that he would be contesting the polls from Kolar, if the party high command agrees.

Congress holds protests across Bengaluru accusing BJP govt of corruption, CM Bommai hits back

The protests were held at various locations across the city with a call "get rid of corruption, save Bengaluru".

Hitting back at the opposition party, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai called the Congress the "Gangotri (fountainhead) of corruption", and said that the grand old party speaking on corruption is "laughable".

Congress party leaders, including AICC General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala, KPCC president D K Shivakumar and Legislature party leader Siddaramaiah among others took part in the protest at the Trinity circle junction.

A woman has the right to choose whether to continue her pregnancy or not and the decision is hers and hers alone to make, the Bombay High Court said while allowing a married woman to terminate her 32-week pregnancy after the foetus was detected with severe abnormalities.
 
A division bench of Justices Gautam Patel and S G Dige, in its judgment of January 20, a copy of which was made available on Monday, refused to accept the the medical board's view that the even though the foetus has serious abnormalities it should not be terminated as the pregnancy is almost at its fag end.

Morocco plans to sell India 1.7 mn tonnes of phosphate fertilisers in 2023

Moroccan phosphates and fertilisers producer OCP said on Sunday it plans to supply India with 1.7 million tonnes of phosphate-based fertilisers in 2023. The supply agreements were signed during a visit by Indian health, chemicals and fertilisers minister Mansukh Mandaviya to Rabat.
 
Under the deals, Morocco's OCP will supply India with 700,000 tonnes of a nitrogen-free fertiliser known as triple super phosphate (TSP), in addition to 1 million tonnes of diammonium phosphate (DAP). Morocco, which has the world's largest phosphates reserves, reported a 54.8% rise in exports of the mineral and its derivatives - including fertilisers - to 108 billion dirhams ($10.6 billion) in the first 11 months of 2022.
