SC issues notice to SEBI on RIL plea on non-compliance of court order
The Supreme Court has issued a contempt notice to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on Reliance Industries (RIL) plea alleging non-compliance of the court's August 5 order, which directed the market regulator to provide access to certain documents to the company.
A bench comprising Justices M.R. Shah and M.M. Sundresh said: "Issue notice to the respondent, making it returnable on December 2, 2022. Abhishek Singh, counsel accepts service of notice on behalf of the respondent."

JeM terrorist killed in an encounter in Kashmir's Shopian district: Police
A foreign Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist was killed on Friday in an encounter currently underway in South Kashmir's Shopian district, police said.
"One FT of JeM terror outfit killed, identified as Kamran Bhai alias Hanees who was active in Kulgam-Shopian area. Search is still going on," J&K Police said in a tweet citing Vijay Kumar, the Additional Director General of Police (Kashmir Zone).

UN, Russians to discuss extension of Ukraine export deal in Geneva
Senior U.N. and Russian officials planned to meet in Geneva on Friday for talks on extending the deal that returned Ukrainian grain to world markets and was supposed to eliminate obstacles for Russian exports of grain and fertilizer.
The agreement expires Nov. 19, and Ukraine and Western nations are pressing for it to be extended. However, Russia's government has said it is undecided, expressing dissatisfaction with how the deal has worked for its side.

Indian national charged in US with $8 million Covid-19 relief fraud scheme
An Indian national in the US has been charged with a $8 million Covid-19 relief fraud scheme and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison if convicted, according to court documents.
Abhishek Krishnan, 40, was a resident of North Carolina before he returned to his home country of India. A federal grand jury in Newark, New Jersey, returned an indictment charging him with fraudulently obtaining millions of dollars in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans guaranteed by the Small Business Administration (SBA) under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Deadline extended till Nov 20 for comments on draft Telecom Bill 2022
The Ministry of Communication has extended the last date for receipt of comments from the general public and stakeholders towards the draft of the Indian Telecommunication Bill, 2022, till November 20 this year.
"The draft Indian Telecommunication Bill, 2022, along with an Explanatory Note, was released by this Ministry on DoT's website on 21 September 2022. Comments from the general public, various stakeholders and industry associations were sought by November 10, 2022," a statement from the Ministry of Communication said.

I would point out Prime Minister Modi has already been to the White House since President Biden took office, and the two of them have had the opportunity to meet in person multiple times and to talk by phone and on video multiple times, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told reporters at the White House on Thursday.

Twitter bankruptcy possible if cash burn doesn't stop, Musk tells employees
Elon Musk, in his first address to Twitter Inc. employees since purchasing the company for $44 billion, said that bankruptcy was a possibility if it doesn’t start generating more cash, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The warning came amid a tumultuous start to Musk’s reign at the social media company -- a two-week period in which he has fired half of Twitter’s staff, ushered out most of the top executives and ordered the remaining employees to stop working from home. Two executives who until today had emerged as part of Musk’s new leadership team, Yoel Roth and Robin Wheeler, are also on the way out, people familiar with the situation said.
