Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi witnesses Republic Day Parade

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Thursday joined a select group of world leaders to have graced India's Republic Day celebrations.

Sisi, as the chief guest, watched the colourful parade at the majestic Kartavya Path along with President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It's the first time an Egyptian president was the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations.

Every year, India invites world leaders to attend its Republic Day celebrations.

No chief guests were invided for Republic Day celebrations in 2021 and 2022 in view of the pandemic.

Republic Day Parade concludes

And with that, the Republic Day Parade concludes. President Droupadi Murmu and chief guest Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi leave the Kartavya Path for the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Escorted by a security detail, riding on horses, they leave in the official vehicle. 

After the president's departure, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar leaves. And then, as per the protocol, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leaving.

All eyes to the skies: Flypast by Air Force fighters begins

Indian Air Force fighter planes fly through the cloudy skies over the Kartavya Path with a pulsating hum.

This flypast by aircraft in different formations are always the highlight of the Republic Day Parade.  

Some thrilled visitors take out their mobile phone cameras to take pictures, while some others desperately try to find the planes due to reduced visibility.

Republic Day Parade showcases India's military prowess

Indian Army's lethality, accuracy and reliability were on full display with defence platforms like Akash Missile System, satellites, modular bridges, towed guns, utility helicopters, electronic warfare systems and surface-to-air missiles.
 
This year, only Made-in-India weapon systems are being showcased at the Republic Day Parade. They include the 'Made in India' 105 mm Indian Field Guns, the recently inducted LCH Prachand, the K-9 Vajra howitzers, MBT Arjun, Nag anti-tank guided missiles, Akash air defence missiles, and the Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicles.
 
The first contingent in the uniform was led by Captain Raizada Shaurya Bali of the 61 Cavalry, the only serving active Horse Cavalry Regiment in the world, with the amalgamation of all the 'State Horse Units'.
