Lucknow youth are fast matching up with the metros in their digital habits and usage of IT gadgets.
In a TCS survey, Lucknow youth have topped in the usage of microblogging site Twitter with around 50% of students using it against the national average of 44.1%.
Lucknow also topped the country in the usage of e-books for studies at 48.6% vis-à-vis national average of 37.8%.
These facts have emerged in the TCS GenY Study 2014-15, the results of which were declared here today.
The survey was conducted across 14 Indian cities. A total of 12,365 students (classes IX-XII) from 1,739 schools participated in it, of which about 1,200 belonged to Lucknow and adjoining areas, TCS regional head Jayant Krishna told the media.
According to the survey, over 60% of Lucknow students use online platforms for access to news against the Indian average of 53%.

Over all, the Lucknow youth scored second highest%age in using social networking sites across all cities with 89% against the national average of 84.5%.
Besides, e-commerce is popular with 72% of the students shopping online, much higher than the national average of 66.6%. Electronic gadgets are the most popular items for online purchase.
Over 70% of Lucknow teenagers own smartphones, while 54% had internet access through PCs, laptops, followed by 31% through smartphones.
The survey revealed that 75% of the students spent an hour online every day.
The cities covered in the survey are Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur and Pune.
TCS conducts the survey every year to get a pulse of digital habits of students with regards to technology and gadgets.
