Central Committee of Young Mizo Association (YMA) demanded removal of Minister of State for Veterinary and Sericulture Dr BD Chakma for his alleged anti-democratic activities, the Mizo's largest organisation leaders said.

General secretary of the central committee of the YMA Vanlalruata told PTI that the minister was among the Chakma leaders who joined the NGOs and poltical parties of Chakma community to boycott the by-election to Borapansury-II seat of Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) held on June 4.

The by-poll was effectively boycotted as neither the polling agents not the voters turned out on the polling day.

"BD Chakma, who took oath under the Constitution to uphold the integrity of the country, was leading the people who were out to harm the unity of the nation," Vanlalruata said.

The Chakma NGOs and political parties boycotted the by-polls in protest against the decition of Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), the Mizo student federation to construct 'Zofate Chawlhbuk' of Mizos' Inn in Borapansury-I in southernmost Mizoram's Lawngtlai district.
