CPI-M Politburo member Brinda Karat on Tuesday termed BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as a "purveyor" of communal politics and said he represents the "rabid face" of RSS.

"Even Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has a chequered track record. Modi..I don't know what is chequered about him. He is an out-and-out purveyor of communal politics and represents the face of a rabid communal RSS pracharak," she told reporters in Bangalore on the sidelines of a CPI-M rally when she was asked about Chidambaram's remarks on Modi's "chequered" track record in an interview.

Karat came down heavily on BJP for allegedly distributing skull caps and burqas to Muslims in the recent Jaipur rally and added "the ploy would not help Modi to change the reality."

"There is a question mark over Modi, who is facing Ishrat Jahan fake encounter and Zakia Jaffery cases in the court," she added. Asked about the shaping up of a Third Front, Karat said people are fed up with Congress and BJP for their corruption, but the alternative has to be policy-based. Karat said the central government should find a solution to Telangana turmoil as it was its creation.

She asked YSR Congress party President Jagan Mohan Reddy and TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu-led parties not to mislead people on Telangana and to spell out their stand on the issue, whether they were for or against it.

"My party has taken a very clear stand. We are for a united Andhra Pradesh," she said.
