Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit on Tuesday alleged that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was 'misleading' the people when it came to the actual development in the state. Dixit was in Ahmedabad to release the Congress party's manifesto for the Assembly polls next week.
"The situation in Gujarat has deteriorated over the years during the BJP rule in the state," Dixit claimed. " I am surprised that 55 per cent of women and 45 per cent of children in Gujarat were malnourished. This is shocking in the state which claims to be the most developed, she added.
She further claimed that the per capital expenditure of Gujarat government on health was Rs 270, while that of Delhi was Rs 840. "The chief minister is misleading the people on number of issues. It is time that the people of the state come out of the clutches of lies of the present government," she said.
Dixit also took a objection on Modi being projected as a Prime Minister candidate during a state election. "Will a state election decide who will be the PM at the Centre?" she asked.
"He (Modi) thinks that if he does not get votes in the name of chief minister, he could get it in the name of being the next prime minister of the country. This shows that his agenda is only to mislead the people," Dixit claimed.
