More than 1.55 lakh candidates to take MBBS entrance test

The online test would be held on Sunday in 270 centres in 75 cities

As many as 1,55,193 candidates from different parts of the country would appear for 'on line entrance test', scheduled to be held on Sunday in 75 cities across the country, for admission to the MBBS course in the centrally sponsored JIPMER during 2016-2017 academic year.

JIPMER Director S C Parija told newspersons here on Saturday that the JIPMER has 200 seats in the first MBBS course.

The online test would be held simultaneously in 270 centres in 75 cities.

He said while one lakh students had appeared for the test during last year (2015-2016), the number had increased to 1,55,193 now.
 
The institute will have from this academic year its annexe in Karaikal and it would have fifty out of the total 200 seats in MBBS course.

The JIPMER has earmarked 54 seats of 200 seats for the students of Union Territory of Puducherry, which includes 14 seats in Karaikal branch of the college.

Puducherry government has earmarked 70 acre site for construction of buildings for JIPMER's annexe in Karaikal region.

Results of candidates selected through the entrance test for MBBS course would be published on June 13, the director said.
