More than 150 people injured during Diwali in Jaipur

Out of 169 reported cases, 68 were related to accidents while 72 others were regarding fire-related incidents

Over 150 people were injured and 74 fire incidents reported across Rajasthan's Jaipur city on Diwali, authorities said.

A total of 169 cases were reported to the SMS hospital during the last 24 hours and cases involved accidents, burn injuries and others.

"49 people received burn injuries and were brought to the hospital last night. Of them, two men were admitted and the remaining were given primary treatment," said a doctor at the emergency department of the hospital.

According to medical officials, of the 169 reported cases, 68 were accident-related injuries.

Chief Fire officer, Dinesh Verma, said 74 cases of fire were reported last night though no major incident occurred.
 
"Fires broke out in shops, houses and godowns and fire brigades ferried water nearly 250 times. However, no major fire incident was reported and no one injured in these incidents," he said, adding that there was no untoward incdident during Diwali festivities.

Elaborate security and traffic arrangements were in place with addition police officials being deployed to ensure safety during the festival.
