Hero Group founded BML Munjal University (BMU) will begin operations with the first batch of students from August. BMU, awarded university status by the Haryana Government in March, will have three schools to begin with — of engineering & technology, commerce and management.
The university will offer 360 seats in the B Tech course and 60 each in B Com (Honours), BBA and MBA. Abhijit Roy, head (external relations), said from 2015, they would have schools of law, architecture and design. From 2016, he added, they would have a liberal arts department. The BBA and B Com courses will be of three-year duration, MBA of two-year and B Tech of four-year.
Spread over 53 acres, will BMU would have 25 full time faculty, apart from visiting faculty from Indian and international institutes, Roy said. The faculty will also be required to engage in research activities, with support of the students.

The university is also setting up industry-promoted centres of excellence. Roy said the students would be given an opportunity to work in the virtual–cum-physical labs. They have already tied up with Siemens PLM Software for one such centre.
Imperial College of London will mentor BMU's School of Management. Imperial College will co-design the curriculum, facilitate student and faculty exchange programmes, conduct joint research activities and establish digital learning platforms. There will also be opportunities for students to join innovation camps and credit-based courses in London. In addition to this, select BTech students will have the opportunity to undertake a one-year MSc programme at the Imperial College Business School.
"We will also have innovation labs where students, especially aspiring entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to mould and design new concepts and ideas. All the course curriculum will be case lead with emphasis on industry internships throughout the duration of the course," said Roy. The 29 companies that the university plans to partner with, would also be engaged with for internship opportunities for the students.
The fee structure for the courses have also been structures. While the B Tech course will be Rs 8 lakh, MBA at Rs 8.21 lakh, BBA course will be for Rs 6.5 lakh and B Com at Rs 4.5 lakhs.
Scholarships are also available for students. Roy said that scholarships in the range of Rs 8-15 lakh were available for students, that included full waiver of tuition fees & food and lodging, apart from a certain amount paid to such deserving students for internships. The university is also looking for corporate partners for this scholarship initiative.
