Muzaffarnagar riots: Villagers donate land for rehabilitation

More than 70 families, which got displaced from riot- affected Lank, Fugana, Kakda and Kutba villages, have refused to return to their villages

Six villagers have donated agricultural land in Khampur village in the district for rehabilitation of riot victims, a Panchayat member said today.

The villagers have donated 14 bigha of their agricultural land to build a housing colony for rehabilitation of 70 families of riot victims, Saeeduzama, Member of District Panchayat, told reporters here.

More than 70 families, which got displaced from riot- affected Lank, Fugana, Kakda and Kutba villages, have refused to return to their villages due to fear, Saeeduzama said.

The construction work would start soon, he said.

The communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas claimed 62 lives and displaced over 40,000 people.
