There was a massive turnout of Congress party workers at the AICC headquarters from noon today, ahead of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and vice-President Rahul Gandhi's appearance at the Patiala House court for a hearing in the National Hearld case. The court has granted them bail.
Members of the Youth Congress, Mahila Congress and a large contingent of the party's workers from Sonia Gandhi's constituency, Rae Bareli, had flocked the party headquarters.
The party ensured that its entire brigade of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members of Parliament (MPs) were assembled at the party headquarters. Leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Congress leader in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, met the legislators ostensibly to chart out a strategy for the parliament's session in the coming week. In fact, it was nothing short of a show of solidarity for the party leadership. CWC members, ex MPs and state leaders had also descended on the Congress office.
Azad, while addressing the media, said, "BJP's Subramanium Swamy has been awarded by the government for dragging the Gandhis to court."

Meanwhile, at the Patiala House Court, Priyanka Gandhi had arrived at 2:30 p.m and was seen waving to the crowd and the media.
Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel also arrived at the court premises.
The SPG had restricted entry into the court premises in order to provide full security to the Gandhis.
Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are expected to address the media at the party headquarters after the court granted bail to them.
