Naveen govt claiming Centre's funds as its own: Rahul

BS Reporter Kolkata/ Cuttack
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi blamed the Odisha government for claiming the funds provided by the Centre as its own funds.

“Enough funds are provided by the Congress led government at the Centre for the people of Odisha, but the Naveen Patnaik government is terming them as its own funds,” said Gandhi, who concluded his two-day visit to the state, here on Tuesday.

Separately, he urged the party members to apprise the people on the welfare measures of the Centre.

He promised to give voice to the grass root level party workers after the party men complained that there is lack of coordination between the workers at state and grass root levels.

Gandhi said, “I want you (the elected bodies of local bodies) to untie your hands and work freely to bring the party back to power in the assembly elections.”

Admitting infighting within the party, he promised that it will be resolved within 2-3 months.

He also addressed the state Congress’ extended executive meeting. Allegations of intra-party skirmishes dominated the agenda of the two-day deliberations held by Gandhi with the party men.

On Monday, Gandhi, in his first visit to Odisha, after being elevated as vice president, met the party workers from 17 districts at Sambalpur.

The party workers with whom the Gandhi scion interacted at Sambalpur include representatives from zilla parishads, leaders of women’s wing of Congress, student union leaders and block level representatives.
