NLC contract worker dies after CISF opens fire

Worker allegedly tried to enter mine without proper permission with his friends

A contract worker of Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) was dead after a CISF opened fire. The incident was reported at Mine II, belongs to NLC at Neyveli, in Southern Tamil Nadu on Monday.

According to sources a contract worker named Raja allegedly tried to enter into the Mine II along with his friends without any proper permission and he was stopped by a CISF, who was on the duty.

"Argument turned heat, the contract worker and his friends have turned violent and CISF opened fire and Raja dead in the firing," said an official. As the matter was relates to CISF, NLC officials did not offer an official comment.

 

Over thousand villagers from the nearby village, from where Raja hails have gathered near infront of the Mine to protest and started throwing stones, said the source.

A Police reinforcement has been deployed and tension remains in Neyveli, said the Official.
