No CBI inquiry in bar bribery case : Kerala High Court

Said that there was no evidence to prove that the current investigation would get sidetracked

BS Reporter Kochi
Kerala High Court today rejected a plea to engage CBI to probe the bar bribery case. The court said that a CBI inquiry was not needed at this juncture. There is no need to hand over the case to CBI as the vigilance inquiry is underway. Court claimed that there is no evidence to prove that the current investigation will get sidetracked.

Since the main accused is a minister, the case should be investigated with extra caution. Investigative agency should be able to reveal the truth and court has informed the vigilance not to work under pressure from external forces. Court's verdict was based on the plea on CBI investigation filed by A.V. Thamarakshan,a former MLA.

The high court has denied the advocate general's request for more time to complete the investigation.
