Mayo Clinic, a top global cancer research institute, has expressed their interest for the set up.

Odisha to get a top global level cancer institute

Odisha will soon get a state-of the-art cancer institute which will also also have research and training programmes in oncology.

This is decided on Monday at a meeting between US based Mayo Clinic representative Dr Debabrata Mukhopadhyaya and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here.

Odisha's health and family welfare minister and chief secretary G C Pati were also present in the meeting.

A press statement released by the chief minister's office said, Mayo Clinic, which is a top global cancer research institute, has expressed its interest to set up a cancer research institute in Odisha.

During the meeting, chief minister Patnaik assured Mukhopadhyaya that the state govenrment would provide all possible support for success of the project.
 
All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will also provide support for setting up the state-of-the-art Cancer Research Insitute in Odisha.
