The state government will move the Union ministry of human resource development (HRD) to despatch a team for identification of a site for setting up of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM).
"The government has selected two sites in Sambalpur for the IIM. We are going to request the Centre to despatch a team to finalise the location for setting up the premier institute," said Sanjay Dasburma, minister of state for employment, technical education and training.
The admissions to the premier institute for 2015-16 have been pushed to uncertainty after the Union government wrote to the state government that the academic session cannot commence unless a permanent site is selected. The chief minister had written twice to the Centre for establishment of the B-school at Sambalpur.
In January this year, a central site selection committee headed by Amarjeet Sinha, additional secretary of HRD ministry had visited two sites initially proposed by the state government in and around Bhubaneswar for establishment of IIM.
