Ongoing threats discussed, but India silent on it: US on Ladakh standoff

Washington has expressed support for India gaining a permanent seat on the Council.

India’s Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla and US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale discussed the "ongoing threats" to the international order and agreed to "endeavour to support each other's objectives", said the State Department.

The US statement apparently refers to China’s recent international actions, but a press release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in Delhi after the two diplomats' virtual consultation on Tuesday didn’t mention the Communist nation.

The MEA said that the two diplomats, who held the US-India Foreign Office Consultations virtually because of the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, also discussed visas for students and professionals,
