Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday witnessed ongoing military exercises near the border with India.

The exercise, in Khairpur Tamiwali in Bhawalpur, Punjab province, is aimed at checking the operational preparedness of the Pakistani military. Tanks, planes, artillery and other heavy weapons will be on display during exercise, Geo TV reported.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said India's "unprovoked" firing along the Line of Control was a threat to regional peace, two days after Pakistan said that seven of its soldiers were killed at the Line of Control.

Prime Minister Sharif on Tuesday emphasised that Pakistan was showing "all possible restraint" and warned India that it should not be mistaken for weakness and that Islamabad should not be considered a soft target.

"Our military is ready to give adequate response to any aggression," he said.
