Days after a RailTel survey revealed Patna railway station to be topping the charts for surfing porn, railway authorities on Monday blocked several porn sites to act as a deterrent for users accessing the station's free Wifi services.

Patna station is the first station in Bihar to have free Wi-Fi facility, which was only launched last month in the capital city of Bihar.

According to media reports, RailTel has started the process of blocking porn sites.

"Unfortunately, the facility was being used for some 'other' purposes, told Arvind Rajak, East Central Railway, CPRO, to Zee News.

The Railtel survey had earlier revealed that Patna railway station has the maximum traffic for porn websites, followed by Jaipur, Bengaluru and Delhi.

However, the study also showed many users availing the service for downloading apps and movies.  As far as Patna is concerned, Youtube and Wikipedia also featured among the most searched web portals.

At present, RailTel is providing 1 gigabyte Wi-Fi at the Patna station but plans to increase it to 10 gigabytes due to slow speed of internet in view of more use.

The service, that has been launched in 23 railway stations across the country, has been provided under 'Railwire', the retail broadband distribution model of RailTel.

According to an Economic Times report, the Railway Board is likely to review its earlier proposal of providing free Wi-Fi services on all premier trains, including Rajdhani and Shatabdi.
