Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today met President Pranab Mukherjee and discussed the just- concluded Budget Session of Parliament which was adjourned abruptly yesterday, two days ahead of schedule.

Sources described it as a routine call on the President by the Prime Minister after conclusion of the session. "The Prime Minister meets the President before the Budget Session to invite him to address the joint sitting and then after the session to thank him," a source said.

The two are understood to have discussed the proceedings of the session which was adjourned suddenly yesterday after a virtual washout as the opposition stalled the proceedings on various issues, including demand for resignation of the Prime Minister and ministers Ashwani Kumar and P K Bansal.

During the second half of the session, Lok Sabha met for 94 hours and 42 minutes but lost 92 hours and 40 minutes. Rajya Sabha lost over 82 hours while it sat for about equal time. Of the 32 sittings, Question Hour could not be taken up on 21 days.
