PM Modi salutes former APJ Abdul Kalam on his 84th birth anniversary

The PM will also unveil a statue of the former President and inaugurate a photo exhibition in Delhi as part of Kalam's birth anniversary celebrations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tribute to late President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam on his 84th birth anniversary.

"Salutations to Dr A P J Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary", Prime Minister Modi said in an official release.

Modi will also unveil a statue of the former President and inaugurate a photo exhibition in the capital as part of Kalam's birth anniversary celebrations.

Bharat Ratna awardee Kalam, who passed away on July 27, was the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.

Before becoming the President, Kalam had spent four decades as a scientist and science administrator, mainly at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
 
He was involved in India's civilian space programme and military missile development efforts, earning him the title of 'Missile man'.
