Home Minister R R Patil said the police officials in Maharashtra will now get leave on their birthdays and marriage anniversaries.
Patil said the state is working on various schemes to ease the police officials of stress and tension, who have been burdened with extra duties over the last few years.
"We have decided that they will get their rightful leave on their birthdays and marriage anniversaries," he said at a function here organised by Marathi daily 'Navakal' last evening.
He was felicitated at the programme for taking decision to keep 5 per cent reservation in police recruitment to children of serving officials. Patil said the government has completed recruitment of 55,000 officials in the police force in the state.
